“No action is exempt from moral judgement; no activity can be despoiled of the value which a moral purpose confers on all things.” Benito Mussolini, The Political and Social Doctrine of Fascism (1932).

The Little Eggs Collective and The Clari Boys present a modern reimagining of the classic tale, Pinocchio. Through the eyes of Pinocchio's creator Geppetto, we navigate what it is that has made the Adventures of Pinocchio not just a children's fable but an icon to be revisited and repurposed throughout history. PINOCCHIO is a live music and movement based theatre work that dances between reality and imagination, finding truth in the unreal. Set amongst the sociopolitical upheaval of Italy in the mid-20th century when the state is puppeteered by a proud and arrogant superpower, this is an imagined origin story of the world's most beloved marionette. The war between man and state, good and evil, puppet and boy is drawn into sharp focus in this production. We ask what it is to exist in a fascist world where the mind of the individual is driven into hiding, and where one’s humanity is kept secret from the state. In a post fact world, is imagination the only thing we can truly rely on?
